The H2 chip processes audio at 48,000 times per second, achieving ANC effectiveness the H1 chip could not reach, particularly in the higher frequency range (1-6kHz). Dual-microphone feed per earbud provides both the incoming noise source and a measurement of how much reaches the ear. Adaptive Transparency identifies sound events above approximately 85dB and applies rapid attenuation while maintaining useful transparency.

Personalised Spatial Audio uses the iPhone's TrueDepth camera to scan the user's face and ear geometry, creating a personalised HRTF for more precise directional accuracy. Apple Lossless Audio (ALAC) streaming at CD-quality bitrate is available to Apple Music subscribers on compatible Apple devices.
